The Women's Park of Yellow Springs

located along the bike path between Grinnell Road and the Antioch Theater
Yellow Springs, Ohio

On Sunday, July 19th, 1998 at 4 pm the second Women's Park in the country - created to honor all women - was dedicated in honor of the 150th anniversary of the First Women's Rights Conference in Seneca Falls, New York. The Women's Park of Yellow Springs, Ohio came into being after Village resident, Imogen Trolander, suggested that since most streets, parks and buildings in town were named for men, women's contributions to the community needed to be honored.

Miami, Florida Municipal Judge Bonnie Rippengille, Chair of the Dade County Women's Park Founder's Committee along with National Organization of Women Vice President, Karen Johnson, Lt. Colonel, Air Force, Retired, came to Yellow Springs to help dedicate the park.

The Women's Park of Yellow Springs has already received the Ohio Women's Policy and Research Commission's "Making a Difference" award for its role in fostering the recognition of women's contributions to the community and society at large. The Women's Park Committee also participated in a workshop for the purpose of helping other women replicate a park in their community.
